Design Wall Monday

Well, I finally got the news on the weekend that I have a new nephew. I have a couple of quilts started for girls, but none for boys so I went through my stash.  My brother-in-law is a firefighter and I found this fabric that I have had for quite some time.

I have enough for the backing and a small border. Then I went on Moda Bakeshop to see if I could find a fast pattern. Which I did. Then I went back to my stash and pulled out a collection of fat quarters I won last year. I also put in some orange. I really like orange. Mixed and matched my colours and this is what I have so far.

I am looking forward to seeing it all together. Check out what others have done for Design Wall Monday.

UFO #10 Quilt Top Done

I was able to get my borders on my UFO #10 aka Snowmen and now the quilt top is done. The original pattern had no borders but it made it a quite small quilt 42 x 52 inches. It took me a long time deciding if I was going to put borders on it but I am really happy I did. My dh picked out the fabric for the borders. He is very good at choosing colours.  Now, I want him to learn to quilt my tops! :-)

Friday Night Sew-In

Once again, I am participating in the Friday Night Sew-In. I am hoping to get the border on my Snowmen UFO #10 tonight. I had to wait for some fabric to finish to come and now I am ready to go!

Love is ..

completing your redwork! I got my last Love Is .. block done today, a very appropriate day. I am so happy with it. I have to send a HUGE thank you to Darlene who got me started on it. I hope I did her proud. I am going to be framing the blocks in an Aster Manor honey bun.

Happy Valentine's Day to all of you!

Quilt Finish

I finished my Christmas quilt in January but have not yet posted pictures of it.

I really love it. One of the great things about it is that there is a mixture of Christmas and Winter Designs so I can keep it out all all Winter long. The quilting on it is incredible.
I love the stripe binding too.

It looks like the year of me is in full swing! My goal this month is to come up with an exercise plan with the help of my dh and start doing it.

Sew Modern

I am not necessarily sure I would consider myself Sew Modern, but I did want to join a group with Canadian quilters. I have enjoyed the blocks so far, and have learned a lot from each one of them. February is my month for the bee and surprise, surprise I decided on a rainbow quilt. I  love making rainbow quilts for kids and decided I needed one too. I have also been trying to make more things with half square triangles. I found this free pattern from Lecien and thought it would work well. I am having my group do the other squares and I will make the centre medallion. Here is my purple block :

I finished my January Sew Modern Bee last week for Jennifer. I had not tried this method before for making these stars but I liked it. She also asked us to make a smaller block with the left over triangles which I thought was a great idea.
It will be exciting again to start receiving things in the mail.  I love all the surprises quilting brings!

UFO #6

Here it is UFO #6, otherwise known as Fresh. I am so happy the quilt top is finished. Even though it is a simple design, I agonized a long time over what to do with the charm packs. I sat under it, imagining what it will be like when it is all quilted. Definitely a great quilt to get out of the winter doldrums.
