Picnic

My Picnic quilt is done and has been given to my niece. She was very appreciative of it. I am happy that she liked it so much. I wanted her to have something made with love as she goes off to university. They grow old so fast! There are moments when I wish time would slow down. I have tried every day this summer to appreciate all of the small moments and it has made the summer great!

Changing Directions

I ended up changing out the triangles for the Kaleidoscope quilt.  When I originally asked my daughter I had only cut out a few triangles. When I had more of them done I put them both ways on the quilt and she told me she liked them both ways. I found the same colour together washed out the stars shapes. I got the triangles put on and am now working on the outer blocks.

Kaleidoscope - Design Wall Monday

I got the inner blocks done for my Kaleidoscope quilt and now am working on the triangles to square off the blocks. This quilt has come together quite easily so far, and I would love to make it again. I was trying to decide if I switch up the diamond colours, but my go to for quilting advice aka my daughter told me to keep it the same. She makes good decisions!

Picnic - Slow Stitching Sunday

I am working on the binding today for my Picnic quilt. I have a half a side to finish and then I will be done. I have gone through the usual stages with this quilt, puzzlement, decision, enjoyment, frustration and accomplishment and now as usual I want to keep it for myself. It will soon be going to my lovely niece who will be starting a new phase in her life. I am very happy for her. She is a very special person.

Happiness Is a Kaleidoscope

I am so happy! I get to start on a new quilt since I finished my Autumn Moons quilt top. I have really liked the Kaleidoscope quilt block since I did a block for it for my Bee Beautiful group 6 years ago. Now I get to make one for myself using fabric my son purchased for me. I am using the Marco Polo pattern for the layout of the quilt because I like how the blocks are used to make an inner border. I had a couple of ideas for the diamond shapes which are formed which is why I have not squared off the blocks yet.

Happiness also is having a wonderful husband. I showed him the first block I had made for it, and he said great points! That is one of the best compliments a quilter can get. We just recently celebrated our 20th anniversary and they have been filled with love, and for him, having to/choosing to attend many quilt shows with me! I am very lucky!
